Why I publish on my own domain first

For a few years my writing lived wherever the audience happened to be. A thread here, a long post there, a newsletter somewhere else. Each place had its own rules about length, links and what could be edited later, and each one kept the follower list.

This site flips that around. Every post starts here, at a permanent address I control, and copies go out to the networks afterwards. If a network changes its rules or disappears, the post is still here with its full history.

What that means in practice

  • Every post has one canonical URL that never changes.
  • Edits are versions, not overwrites. You can always see that something was edited.
  • Removals leave a tombstone rather than a silent gap.
  • You can follow by RSS, JSON Feed, email, the Fediverse or Bluesky, and all of those point back here.

What you will find

Mostly notes on building small software products, the occasional longer essay, and short updates when something ships. Work posts and personal posts are separate streams, so you can follow just the one you care about.

Thanks for reading. If you want the long version of anything here, reply on whichever network you found it on and I will write it up.
